Ryan Estes Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to the Ryan Estes Photography Blog

I'm Ryan, and you'll often find me with camera in hand.  I live and work in the greater Philadelphia area providing brides, grooms, and families with cutting-edge photography.  Here you'll find the latest images, news, and bits of this and that from Ryan Estes Photography.  Come back often -- there's a lot happening, both in my life and in those of my clients.

What sort of images can you expect to see?  That's a difficult question to answer... photojournalism + fashion, portraiture + landscape, documentary + candid... real people on the most important day of their lives, and genuine emotions shining through.

One thing is clear: these aren't your grandmother's wedding pictures.  (No offense to your grandmother, of course...)

Oh! Christmas Tree!

Today I took advantage of a rare Saturday off and went with Kelly to get our Christmas tree. We loaded up the iPod with Christmas tunes…

Mindy Smith - My Holiday

Over the Rhine - Snow Angels

Over the Rhine - The Darkest Night of the Year

Sufjan Stevens - Sufjan Stevens: Songs for Christmas

…and headed for our favorite, rugged, cut-your-own family-owned Christmas tree farm. (None of these pre-cut-and-wrapped sissy trees for us!) We quickly selected one that would work…

Hanging the lights… the first time I tried it I got the whole tree wired, only to realize that the bottom half wasn’t lit. Tried again with a new string of lights (testing them first this time). Got the tree wired, and the bottom half wasn’t lit AGAIN! Third time was the charm and Christmas was saved.

Kelly hanging the stockings…

Self-portrait of sorts…

The finishing touches…

It’s been a good day.

December 2, 2007 - 12:38 pm Joy Moody - Ahh Kelly looks so sad about cutting down a Christmas Tree! But I love that photo of her regardless, I can make up so many stories about it and what was going on at the time. Looks like you guys had fun setting up your tree, way to go, we sold out and got a fake one but it was super easy and plus white tree's do not exist in nature, save when they are covered in snow and I don't think a snow covered tree would go over very well for us.

December 4, 2007 - 8:34 am Pete Malone - The "Self Portrait" is so good Ryan! Great eye....or eyes.
