Ryan Estes Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to the Ryan Estes Photography Blog

I'm Ryan, and you'll often find me with camera in hand.  I live and work in the greater Philadelphia area providing brides, grooms, and families with cutting-edge photography.  Here you'll find the latest images, news, and bits of this and that from Ryan Estes Photography.  Come back often -- there's a lot happening, both in my life and in those of my clients.

What sort of images can you expect to see?  That's a difficult question to answer... photojournalism + fashion, portraiture + landscape, documentary + candid... real people on the most important day of their lives, and genuine emotions shining through.

One thing is clear: these aren't your grandmother's wedding pictures.  (No offense to your grandmother, of course...)

Christmas ‘07

Kelly and I are crazy about our families… we love getting together with both sides and wouldn’t trade it for the world. But after a week of going nonstop, we’re plain burnt out and are happy to be spending New Years at home with each other, good food, and good movies.

Christmas was great, though! On the 24th our friend Jenn came down from her home state of Vermont and joined us for breakfast. The time is always too short, but we’re grateful for whatever time we get with her.

We had to split and head over to Kelly’s parents’ place to celebrate with her side of the family.

Christmas day we spent with my side.

Brock and Tyler were super-excited about some sweet sweaters they got.

And as usually happens in my family, things got musical toward the end…

From the 26th-28th, my side of the fam made the trek to a cabin in the Poconos… you might expect photos of stunning vistas and rustic Americana, but it was rainy and foggy so most of our time was spent inside. A note about my family: we tend to be immensely competitive, especially when it comes to lame games, so when my sister Holly organized tournament consisting of Pick Up Sticks, Memory, and Jenga, the gloves came off.

Pick Up Sticks was surprisingly fun…

But Jenga was the main event.

I’m proud to say that my team tied for first. :)

[Side note to any family members reading this... yes, I know not everyone got equal face time in the above photos. Sorry about that... slip me a 20 and I promise to give you front-page coverage at the next family function...]

January 1, 2008 - 6:35 pm Becca - Ah, Jenga. Now there's a game I haven't played since I was 12! Who says it's lame! You guys look REALLY serious about it (your dad in particular). Looks like fun! Happy New Year!

January 4, 2008 - 10:34 pm Nicole - Now I want to know who made it fall...

January 4, 2008 - 10:37 pm Ryan - I'll never tell...

January 5, 2008 - 1:05 pm Nicole - I figured.
