Welcome to the Ryan Estes Photography Blog

I'm Ryan, and you'll often find me with camera in hand.  I live and work in the greater Philadelphia area providing brides, grooms, and families with cutting-edge photography.  Here you'll find the latest images, news, and bits of this and that from Ryan Estes Photography.  Come back often -- there's a lot happening, both in my life and in those of my clients.

What sort of images can you expect to see?  That's a difficult question to answer... photojournalism + fashion, portraiture + landscape, documentary + candid... real people on the most important day of their lives, and genuine emotions shining through.

One thing is clear: these aren't your grandmother's wedding pictures.  (No offense to your grandmother, of course...)

A really fun Indian wedding

Last weekend I once again had the chance to shoot with my friend Joy Moody. This time it was the wedding of Saya & Chandan, a colorful affair filled with music, friends & family, amazing food (the best I’ve ever had at a wedding), and plenty of beautiful moments between the bride & groom.

When I’m along for weddings where I am simply the 2nd shooter, I rarely blog the images. But I was excited with what I came away with this time, and Joy has graciously allowed me to post some of my favorites. (Be sure to check out Joy’s blog as well, since this wedding was large and beautiful enough to earn a 3-part blog post!)

Saya & Chandan seeing each other for the first time.

But there were also some family members watching what was going on…

Their clothing was incredible.

I love capturing the behind-the-scenes moments at weddings.

The ceremony was quite different from most weddings I do… I’m looking forward to shooting more like this in the future!

A quick wardrobe change and time for more photos!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love 2nd shooting. It allows me to get shots I wouldn’t have had time to see otherwise, like this one. Ba-LING!

Thank you again to Saya & Chandan for allowing me to be a part of your day. Thank you Joy for bringing me along!

April 16, 2009 - 3:37 pm Joy Moody - Glorious! Such an amazing day, wouldn't have been the same without you. Thanks Ryan!

April 16, 2009 - 7:14 pm Kevin High - Great stuff, Ryan! It's nice to see some of your "second-hand" shots...

April 17, 2009 - 8:56 pm Megan - Ryan: What gorgeous images! It was wonderful to see you this morning at the heroes breakfast - thank you again for being there. I also loved seeing V's birthday pics. I've been thinking of her special day this week. Take care! Megan

May 15, 2009 - 6:38 pm Gina Zanella Sample - Ryan, these pictures are absolutely stunning, I can't stop looking at them! The colors are so magical and vibrant! My absolute favorite is the one where the groom is pouring the rice over the bride's head - that is one of the best pictures I have ever seen!
