Ryan Estes Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to the Ryan Estes Photography Blog

I'm Ryan, and you'll often find me with camera in hand.  I live and work in the greater Philadelphia area providing brides, grooms, and families with cutting-edge photography.  Here you'll find the latest images, news, and bits of this and that from Ryan Estes Photography.  Come back often -- there's a lot happening, both in my life and in those of my clients.

What sort of images can you expect to see?  That's a difficult question to answer... photojournalism + fashion, portraiture + landscape, documentary + candid... real people on the most important day of their lives, and genuine emotions shining through.

One thing is clear: these aren't your grandmother's wedding pictures.  (No offense to your grandmother, of course...)

The little camera that could

For most of the time I’ve had it, I’ve avoided the iPhone’s camera… mainly because it’s a cheap, crappy little thing that takes very cell-phone-esque photos. But when Zack Arias twittered about a cheap little app called Camera Bag, it breathed new life into the tiny lens on my phone. Essentially, it simulates old-school film looks like Holga, Lomo, Polaroid, etc. Remember all of those happy accidents you’d get with a Polaroid camera? You know… the snapshot that suddenly seemed like art? That’s the kind of fun I’m having with this.

Check it out… all of these are pretty much straight out of my phone. (You can tell who my favorite model is…)

Don’t worry, I’ll still be shooting weddings with my “real” gear. :)

May 7, 2009 - 8:24 pm Kevin High - I must say, Ryan - I'm impressed that those came from your iPhone... Maybe there's hope yet...

May 7, 2009 - 8:26 pm Kevin High - One more thing - as for your "real gear" -- c'mon, where's your visionary side? Can't you see it -- interchangeable iPhone lenses, hot-shoe flashes, tripod mounts ... I think it's coming!!! (just kidding!)
